Support for you

Our ministers have a great deal of experience in conducting funerals, and also in supporting people who have been bereaved. In addition we have a number of Pastoral Visitors, who are members of our congregations who can offer a friendly face at difficult times.  We are always willing to listen to you, and help you find ways to cope with feelings of grief. However, you should be aware that we CANNOT provide more formal psychological counselling.

Whether you are struggling with a recent bereavement, or one that happened a long time ago, please contact us if you would like to talk to someone.

What do Christians believe about death?

Funerals in the Watling Valley

The death of a loved one can be one of the hardest things we face. If you are visiting this site because you have been bereaved recently, and need to arrange a funeral, we want to help and support you through this sad time.

We will conduct a Christian funeral for anyone, of any age, who has been resident in our parish area and sometimes for people who have not lived here but have a connection with one or more of our churches. Funerals can take place in church, or one of the ministers can conduct the service at a crematorium. We will work with you to make the ceremony a fitting and personal tribute to your loved one, as well as a sensitive opportunity for you to say goodbye. If you would like one of our minsters/churches to conduct a funeral, please ask your funeral director to make contact with us.

Burial or cremation?

This is entirely up to you - most Christian traditions believe that once we die we no longer need our earthly body. Burial space within our parish area has some limitations, both legal and practical - please get in touch with us to find out more, or ask your funeral director.

How much will it cost?

There are fees for the service, and for any burial, or interment of ashes. Your funeral director will be able to advise you according to your particular circumstances. The part of the fees relating to the service and burial are set by the national church.

Can children attend?

Children are more than welcome to attend any funeral service if that is what you would like to happen. It is not a scary event. We will work with you to help support any children who will be attending.
